MEET DR. KIM WILSON
Healing Heart is pleased to welcome Dr. Kim Wilson to our holistic veterinary care team. Throughout her life Dr. Wilson has had an unbridled interest in and appreciation for the animals and their place in the world and in our lives. She has dedicated two careers to the study and understanding of wild and domesticated animals. Her first professional career was as an ecologist. She received her Ph.D. in ecology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985 after conducting her doctoral research in the mangroves of Everglades National Park.
After teaching, and conducting research in ecology for years at Connecticut State University, Dr. Wilson felt like something was missing. She had a deep desire to help animals and their people more directly, which led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She attended Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. While there, she continued to follow her interests in ecology by working and studying in the Wildlife Clinic with raptors, bears and bobcats.
After graduation, Dr. Wilson has work in small animal practices with a strong interest in internal medicine. Over time, she developed a passion for pain management and whole body integrated holistic medicine. She attended the Chi Institute to study acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and continues to pursue continuing education in acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and holistic medicine. Her ecological background provides her with a truly interactive and integrated view of the whole body and life.
She is enthusiastically applying that education and her continuing experience to help cats and dogs be healthy and happy. Dr. Wilson is very excited to be able to put all of these together into holistic medicine practice here at Healing Heart.
Dr. Wilson is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, International Veterinary Association for Pain Management, and the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Wilson thoroughly enjoys the coastal south Florida lifestyle. Paddle boarding, kayaking, and cycling are some of her favorite outdoor interest. She shares her home with three cats: Peeves, Lily, and Spitty, who allow her to play and have fun in the sun as long as she feeds them the finest and runs wildlife videos when she is away.
